The #FixTheCountry Movement and #OccupyJulorbiHouse protests were organized by Democracy Hub, who also announced plans for a one-month protest to call on President Nana Akufo-Addo to step down or face possible impeachment by parliament.
The hashtags for the event are #JustResign and #OccupyJulorbiHouse.
In addition to the President’s resignation, the protesters want corrupt officials, including members of the President’s family and close friends, to be brought to justice for their alleged roles in what a former cabinet minister called a “friends, family, and concubine government.”
The protest, the group emphasized, will also inform Ghanaians about their continued efforts to advocate for a new constitution that meets the demands of a new generation.
The Jubilee House, specifically the publicly accessible side facing Liberation Street, will be the site of the picketing.
The group has planned a three-day protest to voice its displeasure with the difficult economic circumstances the nation is currently experiencing, which notably affects young people.
