A devastating accident on the Offinso-Abofuor Highway in the Ashanti Region has resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, with several others in serious condition.
Witnesses indicated that the accident took place in the early morning on Wednesday, January 7, 2025, between the Samproso and Awisam towns close to Offinso.
Kwadwo Obeng Mireku, an eyewitness who communicated with Adom News, reported that a commercial bus with the registration GT 5509-20, en route from Techiman to Kumasi, crashed head-on with a cement-laden trailer, registration GN 5326-22.
“The trailer, loaded with cement from a factory in Samproso, stalled on the road after its engine failed. The oncoming bus from Techiman, travelling at high speed, hit the trailer. Six people died at the scene, while others were critically injured,” he recounted. One more victim later died after being taken to hospital.
The injured and deceased were taken to St. Patrick Hospital in Offinso Maase. Officers arrived at the location to clear the roadway and have begun probing the reason for the collision.
