An abandoned bridge fell on an expectant woman who was nine months along in her pregnancy, resulting in her early death.
The mishap took place on the terrible route connecting Twifu Mirekukrom and Twifu Agona in the Central Region’s Twifu Attimokwa District.
Residents of the five communities that share this abandoned bridge have fled in terror following the event, unsure of what will happen next.
They claim that because they are unable to use the roads, mobility has grown extremely challenging.
Just two months into 2023, the locals say that five expectant women have already perished on this abandoned overpass.
The Chief of Twifu Mirekukrom, Nana Mireku Ababia I, stated in an interview with media that he and his people are disappointed in President Akufo-Addo and his District Chief Executives for Twifu Attimokwa, Hon. Robert Agyeman Nyantakyi, for misleading them in order to win their support in the 2016 and 2020 general elections.
He declared that he would organize his neighborhood to fight the New Patriotic Party over the cancellation of local initiatives.
If their abandoned roadways and bridge are not repaired, the Chief who led his community members in singing a battle song has threatened to boycott the election.
