Traffic and daily operations have been disrupted by the significant flooding that has occurred in numerous parts of Accra as a result of the nearly three-hour downpour.

The impact on locals and drivers was exacerbated by the downpour, which started at around 3 PM and rained during the busiest commuter hours.

Significant flooding is occurring in areas of the capital like Weija, Kaneshie, Adabraka, portions of Tema, Adentan-Dodowa, and others, leaving roads inaccessible and cars trapped.

Because of the possibility of contamination and the risk of contracting waterborne illnesses, residents in impacted areas are advised to stay indoors and refrain from wading through floodwaters.

Flooding in May is becoming normal in Ghana due to climate change, with the rainy season commencing there.

Some residents fear there could be more flooding in the city if the rain continues, but the Metrological Agency is forecasting that it will rain till Sunday, May 26, 2025.
