Ahead of the December elections, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has begun to shuffle the Majority Caucus leadership in Parliament.
The current Deputy Majority Leader of Effutu MP, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, is expected to succeed Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.
As reported on Monday, February 19, by citinewsroom.com, the reorganization raises questions about the MP Suame’s future, especially in his capacity as Minister for Parliamentary Affairs.
But according to sources, he might serve as the NPP’s 2024 Manifesto Committee chair.
Additional changes include the promotion of Habib Iddrisu, the current First Deputy Whip, to Majority Chief Whip and the elevation of Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Majority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, to the position of Deputy Majority Leader.
Lydia Seyram Alhassan’s nomination as Minister for Water Resources and Sanitation has created a vacancy that Patricia Appiagyei, an Asokwa MP, is expected to fill as First Deputy Whip.
According to sources, Alex Tetteh Djornobuah, the Sefwi-Akontombra MP, is expected to take over as second deputy whip.
Following President Akuffo-Addo’s Ministerial Reshuffle on Valentine’s Day last week, the NPP’s National Council will meet on Monday to formally implement these changes.
