Aisha Huang, the galamsey queen, has once more been denied bail.
When the galamsey queen appeared in court on Monday, October 24, 2022, the court denied her bail.
The AG’s office has not been able to file all disclosures in the case, the Deputy Attorney General Diana Asona Dapaah informed the court.
She explained that the Registry was working on it and asked the court to give them more time to complete filing the processes.
The judge rejected the galamsey queen’s attorneys’ bid for bail on appeal.
The Judge stated that until there is an excessive delay in the case, he has not changed his opinion about the bail application.
The Judge acknowledged that he had been made aware of the Chinese Interpreter’s travel outside of Ghana and instructed the Registrar to take steps to secure a different interpreter for use during the following sitting.
Additionally, he instructed the prosecution to serve the defense four days prior to the next sitting and file their second batch of witness statements.
Since then, the case has been postponed until Wednesday, November 2, 2022.
Ms. Huang and three other people have entered a not guilty plea to allegations of illegal mining and selling minerals without a permit.
