Akosua Frema Osei-Opare chairs Akufo-Addo’s transition team

In accordance with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has named the government’s representation on the Transition Team.

The appointments and the President’s commitment to a smooth transition of executive authority to the incoming administration were detailed in a statement released on Tuesday, December 10.

The team is tasked with maintaining national stability, ensuring the smooth transition of power, and ensuring governance continuity.

President-elect John Dramani Mahama and President Akufo-Addo will serve as co-chairs of the Transition Team.

Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, the chief of staff, has been appointed by President Akufo-Addo to serve as co-chair in his place.

Furthermore, in accordance with Act 845’s Section 5(1), former Speaker of Parliament Rt. Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye has been nominated to the Advisory Council, which will be presided over by Speaker Rt. Alban Bagbin.

The government side will be represented by the following people:

Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Chief of Staff (Head of the Presidential Staff)

Godfred Yeboah Dame, Attorney-General

Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs

Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Minister for Finance

Hon. Henry Quartey, Minister for the Interior

Hon. Dominic Nitiwul, Minister for Defence

Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Minister for Foreign Affairs

Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, Minister for Local Government

Hon. Albert Kan Dapaah, Minister for National Security

In compliance with Section 1(2) of Act 845, other officials will join the team:

Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, Head of Civil Service

Dr. Nana Ato Arthur, Head of Local Government Service

Ambassador Mercy Debrah-Karikari, Secretary to the Cabinet

Mr. Edward Asomani, National Security Coordinator

The message emphasized how crucial a seamless transition is, pointing out: “The team is tasked with ensuring a seamless and efficient transfer of executive authority, as mandated by the Act, to maintain stability and continuity in governance.”

President-elect John Mahama has revealed the members of his Transition Team by Tuesday night, it was also mentioned.
