Keli Gadzekpo, the board chair of the Ghana Electricity Company (ECG), has resigned.
The resignation is effective right away. It is said that he resigned for private reasons.
In order to play a strategic role in ensuring energy sufficiency, Keli Gadzekpo was named to the Board in 2017 by Boakye Agyarko, the then-energy minister.
With over 20 years of expertise in investment banking, Mr. Keli Gadzekpo is an entrepreneur who has contributed to the development of several businesses, most notably the Databank Group of Companies, which comprises Databank Asset Management Services and Databank Epack Investment Fund Ltd.
President Nana Akufo-Addo has named Herbert Krapa, the deputy minister of energy, as the next board chair of the Electricity Company Ghana (ECG).
Keli Gadzekpo, who resigned on Tuesday, March 26, for personal reasons, is replaced by Mr. Krapa.
It is anticipated that Herbert Krapa would head the ECG Board in handling the nation’s recent power shortages.
The ECG has been under pressure recently due to what many believe to be the resumption of the devastating power outages often referred to as dumsor.
Ghanaians have urged the government to release a schedule so they may arrange their life, despite the Energy Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s denial that dumsor has returned.
