Claims on social media that President Akufo-Addo is backing Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, the Dormaahene, in his attack on Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, have been refuted by the Presidency.

Eugene Arhin, the director of communications for the Jubilee House at the presidency, asked people to disregard the claims made, saying they are only the product of some people’s imaginations in a Facebook post.

“Indeed, on no occasion has President Akufo-Addo held a secret meeting with the Dormaahene to, as it were, prop him up to disrespect the Asantehene. No such thing has happened, and no such thing will ever happen,” portions of the statement read.

He added that until the end of his term, President Akufo-Addo will maintain cordial working relationships with all of the nation’s traditional leaders.

On December 21, 2023, Chieftaincy Minister Stephen Asamoah Boateng made an urgent request to the National House of Chiefs to step in and mediate the growing hostilities between Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, and Dormaahene Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, and Dormaahene Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II, the Dormaahene, have been at odds lately. The Dormaahene, who preside over the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, recently declared that the Berekum Traditional Council would no longer be functioning.

He points to the order preventing him from going to the late chief of Berekum, Daasebre Dr. Amankona Diawuo II, and allowing the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to travel to the town to pay their respects.
