A Koforidua High Court decision that held Akwatia Member of Parliament Ernest Yaw Kumi in contempt of court and issued a bench warrant for his arrest has been appealed by the Minority in Parliament.

In addition to the appeal, the Caucus has asked that the court’s order be stayed while the appeal is being processed.

For disobeying an interim injunction that prevented him from taking the oath of office as a lawmaker, Kumi was found guilty of contempt.

The bench warrant was issued because he did not show up for sentence.

Jerry Ahmed Shaib, the second deputy minority whip, spoke to the media about the issue and gave more information regarding the court case.
