Sariki Alhaji Abubakar Umar, the National Vice President of the Council of Zongo Chiefs, has urged Muslim men to speak out against domestic abuse and election interference.

Alhaji Abubakar Umar stated that because Muslims are a responsible faith and think that peace is an instrument for fostering national development, he has urged people to lead moral lives.

At the first quarter council meeting held in Kyebi on Saturday, February 4, 2023, Alhaji Omar, who also serves as the president of the Akyem Abuakwa Council of Zongo Chiefs, offered the advice in an interview with journalist Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Afeema FM.

85 Muslim chiefs, Imams from Akyem Abuakwa, representatives from the Eastern Region, and an observer from the national council of Zongo chiefs attended the inaugural council meeting to examine the problems facing Muslims and Zongo residents, as well as to provide potential solutions.

The executive committee of the council reported to the house that domestic violence against women and election-related violence had gotten out of control in Zongo areas while school enrollment is still falling.

The president of the Akyem Abuakwa Council of Zongo Chiefs responded to the committee’s report by saying that some parents would think about buying large smocks for occasions like funerals but might forget to invest in their children’s education.

Alhaji Umar has pleaded with Muslims and Zongo community members to prioritize supporting their children’s education by paying school fees in order to achieve this goal.

Alhaji Umar laments the fact that domestic violence affects all communities in Ghana, especially Zongo Communities, and that males have a duty to speak out against it and forbid such conduct.

The vice president of the National Council of Zongo Chiefs claims that violence against women is a problem with human rights and developmental difficulties, and that its harmful repercussions extend beyond the survivor to include the development of the immediate family and society.

The usage of your wife as a punching bag is severely frowned upon by Muslims, according to Alhaji Umar.

He has thus ordered the Imams to preach against domestic abuse of women.

Muslims youth have been warned to be watchful and refrain from dirty politics and the violence that goes along with it as various political parties in Ghana prepare to go to every corner of the nation for their campaigning.

Alhaji Abubakar Umar asserts that Islam is a religion of peace, and that Zongos should no longer be a destination for those who seek to recruit young people for their wicked purposes.

He explained to Kaakyire Kwasi Afari that it is crucial for Christians and Muslims to live in harmony and that this should not be viewed as a joke.

The Vice president of the National Council of Zongo Chiefs asked the Muslim believers to reflect positive attitude to uphold the tenets of Islamic religion.
