Today February 13, Bafour Owiredu Agyarko Minta II, the Ankobeahene of Begoro, is expected to appear before the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council to offer his support for John Dramani Mahama, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer.

Nana Owiredu Agyarko Minta II is required to provide an explanation for his actions before the traditional council in a letter signed by D. M. Ofori-Atta, the council’s secretary.

The summons, which was sent out on behalf of petitioners Daasebre Ofosu Kwabi Ayebiahwe and Okyeame Owusu, claims that Nana Owiredu Agyarko’s partisan politics defamed the Begoro stool’s reputation and made it a target of political jeers.

The petitioners allege that Nana Owiredu Agyarko made partisan political remarks in favor of the NDC while posing as Nananom’s representative and speaking on behalf of the Begoro people at a campaign event that John Mahama attended.

The summons further stipulated that Nana Owiredu Agyarko Minta II must pay a hearing fee of GHC1,000.00 and must appear before Nananom without fail, accompanied by any witnesses.
