A team led by Alan Kyerematen, the leader and 2024 presidential candidate of the Afrafranto Alliance, paid President-elect John Dramani Mahama a courtesy call at his office on Friday.
Officially congratulating Mr. Mahama on his election victory and encouraging a cooperative approach to national development were the goals of the visit.
Former Trade and Industry Minister Mr. Kyerematen stressed the value of a government of national unity in a succinct speech.
He emphasized how it may prevent excessive partisanship, stop government projects from being abandoned, and guarantee that talented people from all political backgrounds are included.
Mr. Kyerematen presented Mr. Mahama a copy of his Great Transformational Plan (GTP), outlining two main themes: stabilizing the macroeconomy while investing in industrialization, agriculture, and tourism to create jobs, and moving Ghana away from reliance on International Monetary Fund (IMF) interventions and toward sustainable development.
He also urged a fresh dedication to combating corruption and the threat of illicit mining, which has disastrous effects on the environment and the economy.
Thanking Mr. Kyerematen, President-elect Mahama described him as a “political heavyweight with a visionary approach to national issues.”
He promised Mr. Kyerematen that any ideas taken from the plan would be properly attributed to him and acknowledged the GTP’s transformative potential.
Regarding the problem of illicit mining, Mr. Mahama recognized that even if there are sensible laws and regulations in place, their implementation is difficult.
He emphasized that the problem has been made worse by political meddling and pledged to make sincere attempts to find a solution.
The necessity of sincere and persistent efforts to address the nation’s urgent problems, such as unemployment, corruption, and illicit mining, was acknowledged by both presidents.
The gathering emphasized a common dedication to Ghana’s advancement and growth.
