Alan Kyerematen, the former Trade and Industry Minister, claims he has left the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) again and will run in the future general elections in 2024.

This comes after the former Minister of Trade and Industry’s decision to drop out of the NPP’s Presidential race three weeks ago.

Mr. Kyerematen stated when he announced his withdrawal that he would discuss his future political career in due course.

On Monday, September 25, 2023, Mr. Kyerematen gave a speech to a group of party members and listed several factors that led him to leave and become an independent.

“Under the circumstances and given the context provided, I wish to use this platform to announce that I am honourably resigning with immediate effect from the New Patriotic Party to contest for the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana in the 2024 General Elections, as an Independent Presidential Candidate,” Mr. Alan Kyerematen said.

“To actualize this goal I will establish a lead a new Moment for Change in Ghana. The brand logo for the moment is the Monarch Buttterfly, which politically symbolizes change and transformation, hope and positivity” he added.

This is not the first time Mr Kyerematen is resigning from the New Patriotic Party(NPP), in 2008 he did same after the 17 contested for the flagbearership for the NPP and he came second but gave in for the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
