The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary for the Odododiodio constituency in Greater Accra has been won by Alfred Kotey Ashie.

In the election on Sunday, he received 1209 votes, while his opponent, Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea, received 952 of the 2161 total votes cast.

In addition, four people were detained for taking unapproved pictures of the ballots.

The primary was originally set for a different date, but it was postponed because of an injunction obtained by Nii Yarboi Annan, a disqualified candidate.

According to the evidence that was provided and in light of Article 41(8)(b) of the NDC Constitution, which states that, “a member must be an active member of the party at the constituency level for the four years immediately preceding the date of filing nominations.”

Disappointed by her disqualification, Annan went to court and obtained an injunction.

The Odododiodioo constituency primary was then indefinitely postponed by the NDC.

The party approved the primary to be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024, after the case was dismissed.
