In order to ensure a legitimate and accurate roll ahead of the next general elections, the Electoral Commission (EC) has declared that all anomalies in the 2024 Provisional Voter Register have been successfully resolved.

This promise comes after the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the major opposition party, expressed concerns about the register’s accuracy and demanded a forensic audit.

In response, the EC addressed all abnormalities in a thorough two-week examination.

EC Chairperson Jean Mensa emphasized the Commission’s dedication to upholding fairness and transparency in the election process during her remarks at the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting in Accra on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

“Over the last two weeks, we have spent our energies to clean the voter register and to ensure that the information presented is accurate. Simply put, we have worked to ensure that every applicant who registered in 2023/2024 is on the voter register,” Jean Mensa said.

She also gave the public the assurance that all corrections had been completed and that any errors had been addressed in the updated Provisional Voter Register.

“We are confident that the revised Provisional Voter Register that we present starting today is a marked departure from the register we presented during the exhibition exercise,” Mrs. Mensa noted.

She declared that registered voters will have a second chance to check their information online or visit district offices to report any problems between Tuesday, October 15, 2024, and Saturday, October 19, 2024.

Along with a template to record any further issues, she also committed to giving hard drive copies of the register to political parties.
