The Northern Regional office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was locked by a group of young people known as the Gbewa youth group in protest of Vice Chairman Alhaji Gbewa’s detention.
In addition, the youth have threatened to lock up every NDC office in the city if their demands are not met.
The party’s vice chairman, who turned himself in and was taken into custody by the police, is being demanded to be released by the youth group.
Following the report of an assault against Alhaji Gbewa by Shamima Yakubu, the party’s regional treasurer, the police invited Gbewa to be questioned.
Mahama Haruna, the Gbewa youth’s communication officer, issued a warning, saying they would thwart any efforts by the party to impose sanctions on Alhaji Gbewa, the Northern Regional Vice Chair.
He questioned why Shamima Yakubu was connected to every argument that had occurred within the party.
