The former world champion in athletics and legendary athlete from Jamaica applauded the president of the African Paralympic Committee, Mr. Samson Deen, for bringing the Paralympic Games to the African Continent by allowing athletes and the movement to compete in the first-ever African Para Games, which will be held from September 3–12, 2023.
The Paralympic office would like to work with the Jamaican Legend to support the #WalkInMyShoe initiative, a digital effort to narrow the gap between people without disabilities and those who have them in our society, the AfPC President said in a closed-door gathering.
From September 3 to September 12, 2023, Ghana will play home to the first-ever multi-sport para games, which will feature seven sports: para athletics, para powerlifting, para volleyball, goalball, wheelchair tennis, wheelchair basketball, and amputee football.
A budget of 8.5 million dollars has been set aside by the West African country LOC to organize the event, with money coming from media rights, donations, and the government of Ghana.
