The Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Konadu Yiadom III, passed away, according to a formal announcement from the Manhyia Palace.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, announced her passing today at an Asanteman Council meeting held at Manhyia Palace.
On Thursday, August 7, 2025, Nana Afia Konadu Yiadom III, who was enstooled at age 83, died at the age of 91.
On February 6, 2017, she assumed the position, and on May 6, 2017, she was formally outdoored.
Thursday, August 21, 2025, has been set aside as the date of the week-long celebration of her passing.
Her mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who ruled from 1977 until her death on November 15, 2016, at the age of 109, was succeeded by Nana Afia Konadu Yiadom III, the 14th Asantehemaa.
She was the older sister of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the current Asantehene, and the first daughter of the 13th Asantehemaa.
