The Military High Command authorized the action at Ashaiman on Tuesday after a soldier, 21-year-old Sherrif Imoro, was killed, according to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

The GAF said in a statement released early on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, that the goal was not to exact revenge for the soldier’s murder but rather to find those responsible for the vile act.

The GAF said in a statement that after the operations at Ashaiman-Taifa and Tulaku in the Greater Accra Region, the military personnel picked up about 184 suspects, ages 21 to 47, and handed them over to the Military Police before sending them to the Ghana Police Service for screening and further action.

“During the course of the swoop, the personnel seized 29 slabs and 57 mini slabs of suspected indian hemp and amnesia among other forms of the narcotics,” Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quashie, the GAF’s director general of public relations, released a statement on behalf of the organization.
