President Akufo-Addo has been urged by the Ashanti regional executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to start work on the Suame interchange project.
On October 20, 2022, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo turned the first sod for the construction of a four-tier interchange.
If completed, the project will create the second four-tier interchange in the nation after the Pokuase Interchange in the Greater Accra Region.
Work on the project has not started eight months after the sod was cut, drawing protest from the locals.
The regional party chairman, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as “Wontumi,” said at a news conference held today, May 29, 2023, in Kumasi, that the people in the region are eager for the project to get started.
He claimed that they are repeating the requests of the populace as regional executives of the governing party in order to draw the president’s attention to the desire of the populace for the project to start before 2024.
The project, he said, is the one with the highest priority in the area.
