Assin North Member of Parliament (MP) James Gyakye Quayson’s criminal case hearing has been postponed by the High Court until Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
The criminal charges hearing has been postponed to make room for the Supreme Court’s upcoming application to be heard.
According to the lawyer for the troubled MP, the case, which was submitted to the Supreme Court on Monday, July 18, 2022, asks for a reversal of the High Court’s decision on a witness.
Tsatsu Tsikata, the lead attorney, said his group has asked the Supreme Court to consider the application before the forthcoming judicial break.
However, the Chief Justice had not yet scheduled the hearing, so Mr. Quayson’s attorneys were unable to provide the court with a certified copy of the application.
As a result, attorney Tsikata begged the court to adjourn since the decision could have an impact on the other witnesses who were scheduled to testify.
He added that it will also guarantee justice for the MP.The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) asked the court to postpone the case on her behalf.
