The Tano Bridge in Asutifi North, the Ahafo Region, is connected to Kenyase road. Reconstruction work has started on the bridge to stop more deaths.

It is intolerable for residents to move around and do business because of the bridge that connected Ntotroso to the surrounding settlements being destroyed.

Due to the 2021 demolition exercise endangering passengers on the Ntotroso to Kenyase route, farmers have been disproportionately affected and have suffered a huge setback.

Residents attribute the destruction to the MP for Asutifi North, Hon. Patrick Bannor and the MCE for ultra-modern bridge.

Consequently, the passage of vehicles is greatly hindered, compelling farmers and traders to choose other paths.

However, in a positive development, Ghana Highways Authority’s Project Supervisor, Mr. John Asamoah Peprah announced that reconstruction works will commence immediately to restore the Tano Bridge.

According to Mr. John Asamoah Peprah, the goal of the renovation was to develop a contemporary bridge that could handle the volume of water.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, he informed Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Ark Fm on Wednesday that the project is anticipated to be finished in two months.

Mr. Peprah issued a warning to residents not to steal materials for construction, pointing out that doing so would cause delays in projects.

Odiasempa Kwadwo Adusei, the chairman of the Asutifi North NPP Constituency, praised the reconstruction work and said they intend to return the road to its previous condition, guaranteeing residents’ and drivers’ safety and convenience.

In his response to the newly announced District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), he again emphasized the necessity of assembly members and MMDCEs working together to ensure the program’s effective execution.

Mr. Adusei, affectionately known, pledged to closely monitor the implementation of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) in his district.

He outlined plans for Asutifi North to create a comprehensive road map by dividing the district into zonal areas, facilitating the exercise.

He accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of obstructing the bridge reconstruction process by interfering with the finalization of the construction contract.

Mr. Omane Acheampong Nicholas, the assembly member for the Ntotroso electoral area, reaffirmed his support for DRIP and expressed the hope that his district will see the Enso Nyame y3 road reshaped.

He asked the Asutifi North Assembly to make use of the tools for the benefit of the designated villages.
