Within the next 24 hours, the government has promised to release its final stance on the Bawku Peace Mediation Report.
At Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s formal presentation ceremony today, President John Mahama made the announcement.
After the King, who oversaw the mediation process, symbolically handed over the report, the President made the vow in his speech.
“I’m pleased that this mediation has come to an end, and that he has presented a report,” President Mahama stated.
“I can assure him that government will look at this report, and within the next 24 hours, government will issue a statement on its definitive position on the report.”
President Mahama urged for the mediation efforts to move into a new, sustained phase of direct reconciliation while also pledging a prompt governmental response.
He underlined that the official report should serve as a starting point rather than a conclusion for further discussion.
“But it’s my hope,” the president added, “that the National Peace Council, the House of Chiefs, Otumfuo himself, and all the religious bodies would go the next step of continuing the engagement between the Nayiri and the Bawku Naaba to ensure that we are able to bring reconciliation between the two groups.”
