Sammy Gyamfi, the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) communications officer, has urged Ghanaians to vote against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president, in the general elections of 2024.
He claimed that Dr. Bawumia, who gained notoriety for overseeing the economy’s near collapse, has since abandoned the field and, in an attempt to detach himself from the political fallout from his dismal performance, has adopted the persona of a humorous digitalization advocate.
Sammy Gyamfi claimed in an X post that Dr. Bawumia was disastrous and oversaw the worst economic performance in the Fourth Republic’s history when he was given the chance to lead the economy as the Chairman of the Economic Management Team.
When he was in opposition to, he said, Dr. Bawumia waxed poetic about the economy and advanced grandiose textbook theories on careful economic management.
He said that it is unfortunate that a substantial portion of the NPP delegates, totaling 74,236 and making up a staggering 39% of the delegates, voted against his candidacy in the recently concluded NPP presidential primaries, despite the unprecedented vote-buying and personal phone calls to delegates.
Sammy Gyamfi went on to say that the current status of Ghana is one of hopelessness, recklessness, bankruptcy, hardships, corruption, and nepotism, and that Ghanaians are stuck in this terrible mess.
He stated that in order for Ghana to undergo change by 2024, it would need to undergo a complete reset, which can only be accomplished by a trustworthy, visionary, and honest leader.
