Bawumia is currently in the lead for the NPP flagbearership – Ben Ephson

Ben Ephson, a pollster and managing editor of the Dispatch Newspaper, asserts that Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has a good chance of becoming the New Patriotic Party (NPP’s) flagbearer.

His remark follows the Vice President’s Sunday, March 19, 2023 visit to Akwasidae at Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. Although he was joined at the ceremony by around 80 parliamentarians, government appointees, and several significant NPP stakeholders.

This action, according to Ben Epson, sends a clear message.
“Human head is not a coconut to see inside and I believe that the various delegates will vote in secret and the delegation I think was to send a message because you need to bear in mind that many of the Members of Parliament of the NPP will be seeking reelection.

“For your chances in seeking reelection many of the delegates that will vote for you as the Member of Parliament to remain in Parliament you will ensure that people who will obey you are people you have handpicked and elected. So it is likely that many of the MPs have handpicked those they can control to vote for them to remain in power,” stated the pollster.

“Therefore it is intended to send a signal, and I am waiting for the NPP’s flag bearer date to be declared before I wrap up my seventh book on elections,” he stated. According to Mr. Ephson, there is a good chance that Dr. Bawumia will garner more than 60% of the vote in the contest to be the NPP’s flagbearer.
