Bawumia is expected to win the NPP flagbearer race by 78.37%, according to an independent poll

According to a recent, private, independent survey of NPP presidential primary delegates, which will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2023, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is in a commanding lead with 78.37% of the vote.

Kennedy Agyepong, a lawmaker for the NPP’s Assin Central constituency, is the Vice President’s closest challenger, trailing Dr. Bawumia with 20.86% of the vote. Dr. Owusu Akoto Afriyie, the third contender, is predicted to win 0.41% of the vote, while Francis Addai Nimoh will win 0.36%.

The sample size for the impartial survey, which was completed on Saturday, October 7, 2023, was 23,103 people. Out of those, 18,106 (78.37%) respondents selected Dr. Bawumia as their top choice. Kennedy Agyapong was chosen by 4,819 (20.86) respondents, Dr. Owusu Akoto Afriyie by 94 (0.41%), and Francis Addai Nimoh by 84 (0.36%) respondents.

The respondents were recruited from each of the country’s sixteen (16) regions. The poll’s results indicate that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president, will garner the support of the majority of voters in each of the nation’s 16 regions.

In a related survey conducted by the same source and released on August 24 in advance of the NPP’s special electoral college elections on August 26, it was anticipated that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would win with a commanding margin of 71.7%. Dr. Bawumia received 629 votes overall at the poll’s conclusion, which is 68.15% of all valid votes cast.

The sample size in the Bono East Region was 948; 772 people chose Dr. Bawumia, 175 people chose Kennedy Agyapong, 1 person chose Dr. Akoto, and 0 people chose Addai Nimoh.

There were 2,085 and 2,571 samples in the Central and Eastern regions, respectively. In the two regions, Dr. Bawumia received 1,234 and 2,092 votes, respectively. Additionally, Mr. Agyapong had 458 in the Eastern Region and 842 in the Central Region. In the two regions, Dr. Akoto received votes from 6 and 13 respondents, whereas Addai Nimoh received votes from 3 and 8 respondents.

Dr. Bawumia had 2,623 respondents in the Greater Accra Region choose him as their favorite candidate out of a sample size of 3,859 people. Dr. Akoto had 20, Addai Nimoh had 30, and Mr. Agyapong had 1,186. Out of a sample size of 437, Dr. Bawumia was chosen by North East Region 434. Mr. Agyapong was chosen by the final 3 candidates, with the final 2 receiving no votes.
