If elected as the next President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has promised to build a mini harbour and a maritime defense system for the residents of Sege.
In addition to promoting economic growth by enhancing the infrastructure for the regional fishing sector, Bawumia stated that his pledge is intended to alleviate the catastrophic effects of tidal surges, which have devastated Sege and the adjacent villages for years.
Bawumia emphasized the urgent need for development in the coastal town while touring the Greater Accra Region, speaking to a group of chiefs, traditional leaders, and Sege residents.
According to the NPP flagbearer, Sege’s important location as a fishing hub necessitates vital infrastructure in order to safeguard locals’ livelihoods and promote economic growth.
He emphasized that building a small harbor would be a crucial first step in modernizing Sege’s fishing sector and improving trade and market access for traders and fishermen.
“We need a mini-harbour. So we are going to work on bringing a mini harbour to Sege here for you and that is a very important thing. And then, of course, very important, we need to do the sea defence for this area.
“So I have a lot to do for you. If I come back in four years, I will have to give an account of what I have done with the sea defence.”
