Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC’s communications director, claims that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is a disgusting liar for implying that the NPP’s creation of 2.1 million employment for Ghanaians is true.
On Saturday, April 8, 2023, Vice President Bawumia addressed a large crowd of NPP supporters in Mpraeso following a health walk at Mpreaso-Kwahu in the Eastern Region. He claimed that the Akufo-Addo administration has generated 2.1 million jobs since the NPP took power.
The NDC’s National Communication Officer responded to the Vice President’s remarks by disputing the assertions and pointing out that the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) had quadrupled its official unemployment figure.
He claims that between 2016 and 2021, the jobless rate nearly quadrupled, rising from 8.4% to 14%.
“Official rate of unemployment has almost doubled from 8.4% in 2016 to 14% as of 2021, according to the GSS. Youth unemployment is at an all-time high,” Mr. Gyamfi stated in a post on Facebook.
