A serious road accident occurred on Saturday morning, December 7, 2025, at the SSNIT Flats junction in Asuoyeboah, Kumasi, after a towing vehicle reportedly suffered a brake failure under the traffic light.
The out-of-control towing truck collided with a black private vehicle, forcing it off the road and into a nearby gutter. In the process, a bread seller who was standing by the roadside was hit and sustained severe injuries.
As Ghanatodayonline.com reporter Anthoniette Ama Nyame interviewed an eyewitnesses, he confirmed that the woman, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was critically injured and was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention. One of the drivers involved in the crash was also rushed to the hospital with minor injuries.
“I saw the towing car coming fast under the traffic light and all of a sudden it hit the private car and pushed it into a pot hole. The bread seller was standing by and she got hit. It was very serious,” one eyewitness recounted.
This incident comes amid rising concerns over increased road accidents during the festive season. Many are calling on transport authorities to intensify safety inspections and ensure all vehicles on the road are in proper working condition especially high-risk vehicles such as heavy-duty and towing trucks.
