The incumbent New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) effort to win the 2024 general elections will be challenging, according to Eugene Boakye Antwi, Member of Parliament for Subin Constituency.
He contends that in order to actually end the eight-year cycle of governance, the party needs to take initiatives or develop action plans.
“What if you break the eight and your seats in Parliament are few, your business of the house will be frustrated” Hon Boakye Antwi said.
“We used to have 169 seats in Parliament, now we have 137 plus one independent candidate. We cannot afford a repetition of that in 2024 elections.”
He said in an exclusive interview with Kasapa FM’s Akokoraba Nyarko that the overwhelming number of seats the opposition NDC lost in the 2020 election was a wake-up call for the party’s leadership.
He added that while the party is now concentrating on the position of flagbearer, emphasis must also be paid to how they can increase and sustain the current 137 seats of the NPP.
