Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a prospective presidential contender for Ghana’s major opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), contends that the NDC has to economically empower its women members in order to maintain its electoral victories.
According to Dr. Duffuor, a political party’s future is determined by how well it raises successful female politicians and businesswomen since women have sway over families and society.
As part of his 4-day campaign tour through the Eastern region, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor made this statement on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at the Abuakwa North constituency.
He ordered the party’s constituency executives to direct the majority of the profits from his “Ahotor Project” toward the support of women within the party.
The former central bank governor reaffirmed his intention to transforming the NDC into a business-focused social democratic party that will hold stock in significant corporations to help finance the party and generate employment.
In addition, Dr. Duffuor reiterated his pledges to reinstate the Heroes Fund to assist party members in need, implement a pension plan for the organization, and give monthly salaries to the party’s executives at the regional and constituency levels.
Dr. Kwabena Duffuor stated that his goal is to restructure the NDC in order to strengthen the grassroots.
Dr. Kwabena Duffuor declared that he has adopted the constituency in Abuakwa South in order to ensure that it is resourced to maximize votes for the NDC notwithstanding the challenges party executives face there because it is the hometown of President Akufo Addo.
He asked NDC members to put the party’s needs above their own because the party is greater than any one person.
