The National Vice President of National Council of Zongo Chief’s, Alhaji Abubakar Umar has advised Imams and Zongo Chiefs to ensure collaboration towards peace and development in their communities.
The collaboration he said, will seek to spell out their unique roles and responsibilities which will go a long way to avoid power struggling amongst them.
Alhaji Abubakar Umar made the call at the 2023 2nd quarter meeting held at Kyebi in Abuakwa South of the Eastern region.
Alhaji Umar, who serves as both the president of Akyem Abuakwa and the Eastern Regional Council of Zongo Chiefs, stated that Zongo Chiefs and their Imams frequently quarrel about who gets to do which tasks. He claimed that this causes animosity, disputes, and division among the Zongo Communities.
He has asked local leaders to work together to bring peace to Zongos in order to achieve this.
In a side-by-side interview with Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Afeema FM, the Zongo Chief, Alhaji Umar Abubakar, urged the youth to observe the bylaws established by their chiefs.
He bemoaned the fact that Muslim adolescents violate Islamic values by disobeying the law to celebrate their holidays in a chaotic manner.
He has once more urged Muslim youth to abstain from acts of violence prior to, during, and after the next general election.
People who think of Muslims as violent troublemakers disagree with the president of the Eastern regional council of Zongo Chiefs.
He reminded the followers of the faith that Islam stood for peace, hence there was no justification for them to use their actions to give the religion a bad reputation.
Alhaji asked the young to use their zeal to support the growth of Zongo communities.
There needs to be a coordinated effort to uncover the perpetrators, according to Alhaji Abubakar Umar, who added that some of the crimes were being committed by outsiders.
They expressed concern that the youth’s violent behavior was tarnishing the Zongos’ reputation.
