In protest against Samuel Adom Botchway’s appointment as the Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry, the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has called for a statewide strike.

Concerns regarding the employment of politically exposed individuals to the Civil Service and local government organizations were brought up at a February 11, 2025, National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, which led to the decision.

The National Executive Committee decided that CLOGSAG would start an industrial action if Mr. Botchway took office.

The group has declared that it has no choice but to go forward with a statewide strike, which will take effect on Thursday, February 20, 2025, following his official assumption of duties on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

All of CLOGSAG’s members are being asked to remain at home from the start of the strike until further notice.
