The Ghana Cocoa Board’s (COCOBOD) Board of Directors has decided to forgo any sitting allowances for the rest of the 2025/2026 cocoa season to aid ongoing reforms in the industry.
A public notice from the Board stated that the decision reflects a commitment to enhancing the long-term sustainability of Ghana’s cocoa sector.
As per the announcement, board members will waive their sitting allowances for the remainder of the season to support efforts focused on reinstating stability and trust in the cocoa value chain.
The Board stated that the decision demonstrates a dedication to careful financial oversight, collective sacrifice, and accountable leadership as COCOBOD implements vital reforms to tackle recent issues in the industry.
It also emphasized its commitment to improving efficiency, encouraging responsibility, and protecting the well-being of cocoa farmers.
The announcement also stated that the Board will keep collaborating with the government and other stakeholders to ensure a robust and sustainable future for Ghana’s cocoa sector.
The board is chaired by Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and includes key figures such as the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson; Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Asiama; Chief Executive Randy Abbey; Alhaji Alhassan Kobina Ghansah; Vincent Oppong Asamoah; Deputy Minister for Trade, Samson Ahi; Deputy Minister for Agriculture, John Dumelo; Alhaji Alhassan Bukari; Nana Charles Owusu and Eric Turkson.
