The summary report from the Constitution Review Committee has been presented to the President, signifying an important milestone in the nation’s constitutional reform journey.
The report has been sent to the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, along with the President’s Legal Counsel, for thorough examination. The government is anticipated to reveal its formal reaction to the committee’s suggestions once this review concludes.
An Implementation Committee is expected to be formed at the start of next year to start the process of executing the approved recommendations.
To ensure transparency, the President has ordered that the report be released to the public.
Altogether, the Committee obtained 735 electronic submissions through email and the website, along with 50 manual submissions at the Secretariat, resulting in a cumulative total of 785 written submissions. The Committee conducted 10 thematic stakeholder engagements, leveraging the knowledge and perspectives of more than 500 experts and practitioners across the different thematic areas.
The Committee conducted 17 stakeholder engagements with identifiable groups, including Members of Parliament, the media, the business sector, academia, and youth.
Through these interactions, the Committee engaged with and connected to over 21,500 individuals, including 21,000 youths who participated in the Committee’s X-Spaces event.
