An electoral petition contesting Frank Annoh-Dompreh’s election as a member of parliament for the Nsawam-Adoagyiri seat in the general election of 2024 was denied by the Koforidua High Court.
The court rejected the petition, which aimed to nullify his election, on Thursday after receiving a legal appeal from Gary Nimako Marfo Esq., the New Patriotic Party’s Director of Legal Affairs.
His Lordship Krofa Addae, the presiding judge, decided in favor of a motion to dismiss the case. According to him, the court determined that the results announced by the Electoral Commission accurately represented the will of the electorate and rejected the petitioner’s arguments.
The court imposed GH¢25,000 in costs on the petitioner as part of the ruling.
Mr. Annoh-Dompreh, who is currently the Minority Chief Whip in Parliament, applauded the court’s ruling, seeing it as confirmation of his election win and the trust that the people of Nsawam-Adoagyiri placed in him.
Amenorpe Philibert Fummey, the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) parliamentary candidate, is the complainant in this lawsuit.
