The Convention People’s Party (CPP), which has called for a thorough recovery of state assets that have been embezzled since 1966, has placed its entire support behind the Operation Recovery of Assets and Loot (ORAL) project.

The CPP demanded that all state properties that had been sold or distributed incorrectly be reclaimed and denounced the abuse of public office in a statement signed by Osei Kofi Acquah, the party’s national communications director.

ORAL is a patriotic project, according to the CPP, which said that the only people who would oppose it are those who have embezzled state resources or lack patriotism. Acquah voiced his displeasure with the past abuse of governmental institutions and businesses by those tasked with overseeing them.

The CPP argued that 1966 was a turning point in Ghanaian history because it signified the start of widespread impunity after the coup that oust Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. The party believes that this trend needs to be reversed because it allowed government and military officials to give away state assets to themselves at low prices.

“Nobody can say that the ORAL is a bad initiative unless they are unpatriotic or have looted the state themselves.

It is absurd and annoying that people who were employed by the state ended up selling the very State enterprises, institutions and other properties to themselves and their cronies”

“All lands vested under the care of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, which have been misused for illegal activities, must be recovered,” the statement added.

THE CPP SUPPORTS ORAL, EXPECTS RECOVERY OF LOOTS TO DATE BACK TO 1966

Nobody can say that the ORAL is a bad initiative unless they are unpatriotic or have looted the state themselves.

It is absurd and annoying that people who were employed by the state ended up selling the very State enterprises, institutions and other properties to themselves and their cronies.

Majority of Ghanaians voted for the NDC government because of the Oral.

The Recovery of the Loot must include even vehicles which were originally owned by the state, but had been sold to politicians and civil servants who were supposed to be custodians of those properties on behalf of the people of Ghana.

Once again, all lands which have been vested under the care and protection of the commander in chief of the Ghana Armed Forces by the people of Ghana, which has been bought and used for Galamsey and other forms of illegal activities must be Recovered and the perpetrators of those illegalities surcharged accordingly.

What we want as NKRUMAIST is the recovery of the Loot to date back to 1966, after the unfortunate coup which sowed the impunity of the military and government officials allocating State properties to themselves, or buying state properties at very low prices.

In any serious country why must or why should a minister who has fist hand information be allowed to purchase something that is being sold at where he or she works?!

What annoys me is that most of these corrupt and thieves who became government appointees did shabby and shady jobs and still took monthly salaries.

The CPP support the Recovery of every Loot by the people who were supposed to protect the very properties they have looted.

We in the CPP wants the ORAL to go beyond Accra. State lands, state factories, state institutions, state enterprises and everything that was once upon a time a property of the state which now belongs to an individual or a group of individuals must be RECLAIMED back to the state without any excuse.

Signed

OSEI KOFI ACQUAH

NATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR.
