The legal conflicts involving Empress Gifty Oppong Adorye and contested Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, widely known as Agradaa, have been resolved outside of Court, with both parties coming to terms regarding two defamation cases filed against her, which the High Court has recognized as a consent judgment.
According to the terms of the agreement reached on Tuesday, January 20, Agradaa has consented to pay Gifty Adorye a total of GHc100K, reduced from the GHc40M she initially requested.
The total mainly serves to cover legal costs and expenses associated with the cases.
According to the agreement, Nana Agradaa has also consented to provide a public retraction of the statements in question and an apology to Empress Gifty Oppong.
On May 20, 2025, and June 26, 2025, Empress Gifty Adorye initiated two distinct legal proceedings for defamation, pursuing damages resulting from statements made by Evangelist Asiedua, which Empress Gifty viewed as harmful to her reputation.
In her initial assertions, Empress Gifty requested court orders for the payment of forty million Ghana Cedis (GHS 40,000,000.00) in damages for purported slander and libel, a permanent injunction preventing Evangelist Asiedua from making additional defamatory statements, deletion of all relevant content from social media platforms, and complete coverage of legal expenses and professional fees.
A statement released on Tuesday, signed by her attorney Richard Asare Baffour, indicated that the terms have been accepted by the Court as a consent judgment.
“The terms of a mutually agreed settlement were today, 20 January 2026, adopted as a Consent Judgment by both the Tema Land Court and the Tema Main Court, formally bringing the two related lawsuits to an end.
