District Assembly Elections: EC to hold a run-off on January 9

In order to break ties in the election results from the recently concluded District Level Elections (DLE), the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has announced that elections will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

The EC claims that the action complies with the 2015 District Level Elections Regulations (C.I. 89).

“Following the collation of results from the just ended District Level Elections, 20 Electoral Areas for Assembly Members and 41 Electoral Areas for Unit Committee Members across the country produced the same results for the contestants.

“As a result, there will be the need to conduct Run-off elections in these areas to break the ties to determine the winners in these Electoral Areas,” the Electoral Commission disclosed in a stated.
