Sarah Adwoa Safo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya, has come home after a lengthy absence.
This comes after the Speaker of Parliament mandated that the NPP lawmaker’s fate be decided by the plenary.
She has drawn criticism for her ongoing absence from the nation, and the House will soon debate and determine whether to declare her position empty.
Adwoa Safo will continue her parliamentary responsibilities after returning, claim sources close to the MP.
Adwoa Safo sought a leave of absence in 2021 to handle personal matters.
However, according to a statement dated Wednesday, October 6, 2021, signed and delivered by Mr. Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Presidency, Adwoa Safo’s vacation was further extended indefinitely.
She was then relieved of her duties as minister for social protection, children, and gender issues.
The politician refused to provide an explanation for her extended absence from the House, despite efforts by the Parliament’s Privileges Committee.
