As Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia embarks on his tour to the Eastern Region, the Eastern Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has released a statement advising people in the region not to be deceived.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is anticipated to kick off the general election campaign in 2024 on Monday, April 29, 2024.

Beginning with the Eastern Region, Dr. Bawumia will lead the campaign.

He claims that as part of the campaign, the Vice President would meet with a variety of stakeholders, including established leaders. Others that visit companies, including markets, to engage with both vendors and customers, include the clergy, young people, traders, drivers, farmers, and students.

But the NDC denounced NPP flag-bearer Dr. Bawumia in a news statement signed by Eastern Regional Communications Officer Kojo Danquah for his purported history of lying and misleading people in public.

“We in the Eastern Region are readily prepared to expose the lies he will be peddling in the course of his tour in the region,” the statement read. “We urge all citizens in the region not to be hoodwinked by the perennial lies of the Vice President.”

Through its Performance Tracker, the party accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of falsifying accomplishments and using deceptive tactics.

“A disturbing reality laced with lies, deceit, and blatant misinformation is revealed when one looks at the NPP’s Performance Tracker,” the statement read.

It also brought up issues with incomplete projects, incorrect initiative crediting, and incorrect town and project identification.

The NDC asked the NPP’s flagbearer a number of questions, including why there were differences in the Performance Tracker and for a detailed list of all projects that had been finished in the Eastern Region.

“Is duplicity and subterfuge entrenched in their modus operandi?” the statement asked.

The NDC pointed out what it sees as a sharp contrast between its achievements and the perceived shortcomings of the current administration.

The statement praised the NDC’s tenure for a “paradigm shift” in infrastructure and development projects such as the Abetifi Referral Hospital, the University of Environmental and Sustainable Development, and several water projects in the region.

“The NDC’s tenure witnessed a paradigm shift in infrastructural development, marked by landmark achievements such as the establishment of the Abetifi Referral Hospital which has been left to rot, the University of Environmental and Sustainable Development, and pivotal water projects in Suhum, Akwatia, Wenchi, and Dwenase. Additionally, the construction of Community Day SHS facilities in Takorase and Maame Krobo,kwaobah-Nyanoa,Kwahu Fodoa, Mem-chemfre, Anum Apapam and Apersua along with extensive town road networks and chip compounds, symbolizes monumental progress observed in the Eastern Region” the statement said.
