The Tempane Constituency’s youth and students have been urged by National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama to rebuff any efforts by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to influence their votes through financial inducements.

During his nationwide campaign tour, Mr. Mahama spoke to party members and students at the Tempane Senior High School. He advised the younger voters not to allow their votes to be purchased with amounts of GH¢200 or GH¢500, cautioning that such inducements would simply prolong their poverty.

“Don’t let NPP buy your conscience with GH¢200 or GH¢500 during elections to continue to keep you in poverty,” Mr Mahama asserted.

“If they come with the money, collect it and chop it, it is your money, but don’t vote for them because NPP doesn’t have anything better to offer your future.”

Mr. Mahama emphasized in his passionate address that taking bribes from the NPP would not significantly advance their lives or the development of the nation.

Rather than concentrating on immediate gains, he urged them to consider the long-term advantages of supporting a party that actually cares about their future.

The former president also used the occasion to attack Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate, alleging that their programs lacked consistency and dependability.

He expressed doubts about the candidate’s decision to switch his emphasis from economic concerns to digitalization, suggesting that this move indicated a lack of specific plans for the country’s economic resurgence.

“If I say the NPP has nothing to offer for the future of Ghanaians, I mean it because the very ‘Mr. Economy’ who was all over saying micro and macroeconomics is now running away from that to something called digitalisation,” Mahama argued.

“Is this the type of person you should trust? Let us rescue this country together through your vote for the NDC.”
