Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) chairman for the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency, Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), has spoken out against party members choosing to vote for an independent or alternative parliamentary candidate instead of the NPP’s presidential nominee.
“ there is something about our political lexicon called skirt and blouse voting, where party people will vote for NPP presidential candidate and then decide to vote for an independent or another parliamentary candidate. That practice derailed the progress of this party and by extension this country. Look at how NPP is suffering to get its programmes and policies through Parliament today. It is not good and such voting must not be encouraged “, Speaking during the formal launch of the Offinso South NPP constituency campaign over the weekend in the Ashanti Region, COKA said that since elections have consequences, Ghanaians need to choose the party that values their well-being and support them.
“ Elections have consequences. So you should always vote for the party that will stabilize your energy supply (electricity) and not the National Democratic Party ( (NDC) and their candidate John Mahama who could not supply stable power for more than 4 years. NDC fought Free Senior HIgh school policy’s introduction and so cannot protect it when voted to power, except the NPP who introduced it”.
According to Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, Ghana can only make progress while the NPP is in power.
“Any reasonable Ghanaian will attest that this nation has experienced significant development only during the NPP’s tenure, particularly in the area of social intervention initiatives such as free prenatal care, free education, and numerous other programs.”
In order to increase support for the Party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahmadu Bawumia, as well as the legislative candidates, he urged unity among the NPP’s Ashanti region ranks.
“NPP will win this year’s elections with unity.” With a large following, the NPP is the largest political party in Ghana. To increase the number of votes our presidential candidate and the parliamentary candidates receive in the area, let’s band together behind the giant elephant.
