The Ghana Chamber of Mines has had Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey named as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The appointment, which takes effect on June 1, 2025, was made just days after Dr. Ashigbey resigned as the CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications.
According to Ghanatodayonline.com, the Chamber has also named Ahmed Dasana Nantogmah as its first-ever Chief Operating Officer (COO).
The Chamber claims that Dr. Ashigbey and Nantogmah’s nominations highlight a renewed dedication to innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable growth in Ghana’s vibrant mining industry.
According to reports, the hiring of the two executives heralds a new era for the sector, according to the president of the Ghana Chamber of Mines.
“The appointment of Ing Kenneth Ashigbey and Ahmed Nantogmah heralds a new chapter for the Chamber. Their combined expertise, leadership, and vision will be instrumental in navigating the dynamic landscape of the mining industry and advancing the interests of our members and the nation.”
Dr. Ken Ashigbey graduated from the Swiss Management Center with a PhD in business administration. In addition, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and an MBA from the University of Leicester (UK).
He was the Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group Ltd. before to becoming the CEO of the Chamber of Telecommunications.
Additionally, he has held positions as General Manager of Joy FM, Chief Operating Officer of Multi TV, and Chief Technology Officer of the Multimedia Group.
He served as Managing Director of Optimum Media Prime, a stand-alone media and marketing company, in between assignments at Multimedia. Additionally, he was a Senior Projects Engineer at Fanel Ltd, a building services engineering firm.
The convener of the Media Coalition Against illegal Mining, Ken Ashigbey, is a strong opponent of galamsey, or illicit small-scale mining.
