During the eight years of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration, no opposition MP was ever harassed by state security agencies for requesting investigations during parliamentary oversight, according to former Deputy Minister for Education Rev. John Ntim Fordjour.

According to his statement, National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) agents reportedly raided his home on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in an attempt to arrest him.

Rev. Fordjour was allegedly the target of an arrest attempt after voicing concerns about two strange flights that landed at Kotoka International Airport under circumstances he feels suggest possible money laundering and narcotics trafficking.

Rev. Fordjour emphasized that even the most severe critiques and requests for investigations from opposition MPs were met with understanding and without coercion during President Akufo-Addo’s administration.

“The level of intolerance demonstrated by President Mahama in his reaction to a press statement of the Minority Cause simply demanding probes into various matters of urgent and serious public interest, is unprecedented and a major setback in our democratic pursuit,” he said.

In addition, he asserted that the NIB officers had invaded his house without a warrant and that the current administration had approved of their politically motivated activities to intimidate him for voicing valid concerns on behalf of the Minority Caucus.
