Young leaders have been counseled to use the possibilities that come with their leadership jobs as a yardstick to gauge their achievement.

Mr. Samuel Osei Sarkodie (SOS), the NPP youth organizer for the New Juaben North constituency, made this claim on Friday, March 7, 2025, at an orientation and leadership summit for SRC officials.

Under the theme “Student Leadership: From Good to Great Strategies for Exceptional Performance,” the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana’s Eastern and Greater Accra branch hosted the summit at SDA College of Education in Koforidua, Eastern Region.

Financial experts, principals from some selected educational institutions, and SRC executives from nine member colleges in the Eastern and Greater Accra regions were all present at the summit.

The event aimed to equip tertiary leaders with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their future endeavors.

Participants engaged in interactive sessions, question and answer periods, and networking opportunities.

Addressing the executives, Mr. Osei Sarkodie emphasized that true leadership is not about titles or prestige but about making a positive impact in the future to effect changes in communities.

SOS defined leadership as “an opportunity to serve and help people” and thus challenged the SRC executives to be agents of change.

He advised participants to use their positions wisely by building connections with influential personalities to secure fortunes such as job opportunities after school.

The youth organizer for the NPP constituency shared his own story, describing how his unique service and close relationships with the CEO of Joy Industries during his college years helped him land a job there.

In order to accomplish comparable objectives, the constituency organizer urged young leaders to put more emphasis on using their positions to make a significant impact than on pursuing fame or power while still in school.

The tertiary executives received mentoring from Mr. Samuel Osei Sarkodie on how to think creatively about raising money and how crucial it is to maintain financial discipline.

A call to action was issued at the end of the conference, asking young leaders to reconsider their leadership style and work toward leaving a lasting impression in their respective industries.
