Mr. Shisu Iddi, the Amamrehene, has been destooled by the Eastern Regional Council of Zongo Chiefs for disobeying the Council’s Great Oath.

Shisu Iddi, the Amamrehene [Costom/Tradition] Chief, was also charged with displaying extreme disdain for the president of the Eastern and Akyem Abuakwa Council of Zongo Chiefs, as well as his elders in general.

At the Council of Chiefs’ fourth quarter meeting in Kyebi, Chief Alhaji Abubakar Umar, the head of the Council, cautioned Muslim communities and Zongo region inhabitants against using Shisu Iddi’s services. He made this announcement to the media over the weekend.

The National Vice President of the Council of Zongo Chiefs, Alhaji Abubakar Umar, once more issued a warning to Muslims and anyone else who could choose to support the former Tradition Chief: they do so at their own peril.

Among other things, Shisu Iddi lost his job because he repeatedly used derogatory and unprintable language to criticize the executive members. The Zongo Council views this as “disrespectful,” since it compromises the legitimacy of the Eastern Regional Council of Zongo Chiefs, his position, and its authority.

Taking advantage of the occasion, the Council President advised all Zongo Chiefs in the Eastern area to view the punishments as a deterrent and to exercise caution, fear, and respect when interacting with the council’s authority in their capacity as chiefs.

In other development, the Akyem Abuakwa Council Of Zongo Chiefs in collaboration with the Eastern regional Council of Zongo Chiefs will celebrate the 35th Chieftaincy Anniversary of their president, Alhaji Abubakar Umar on the 7th to 9th December this year at Kibi Astroturf in the Eastern region.

The anniversary is on the theme “Transforming Zongo Communities Through Education and Youth Empowerment”.

Raising money for their Educational Fund is intended to help the establishment of Islamic schools, social amenities, and company owners who are Muslim and Christian.

As part of the Council’s broader goal to expand educational opportunities for Muslims, Alhaji Abubakar Umar informed Kaakyire Kwasi Afari that the Educational Fund has prioritized funding for education for all people.

Alhaji Umar voiced concern about the low level of education that young Muslims in Akyem Abuakwa are receiving.

He noted that there was a high school dropout rate and partially ascribed it to a lack of funding.
