The Greater Accra Regional Collation Center will resume collation of the Ablekuma North results as directed by the Electoral Commission (EC).

This ruling comes as emotions escalated after members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) gathered outside the building to protest alleged attempts to tamper with the election process.

Candidates from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the NDC engaged in a contentious confrontation inside the collation center, accusing one another of undermining the popular will.

Following the collation of results from 219 of the 281 voting stations, the collation process was halted for the second time earlier today.

At the halfway stage of the collation procedure on Monday, the first suspension took place.

NDC former Deputy General Secretary Peter Otokunor, however, revealed to JoyNews that the EC Chairperson had stepped in and told officials to carry on with the collation process.

In light of that, the officials have gone back to the room to do some more math.

However, misunderstanding has also broken out among the party officials there, so the procedure has not yet resumed. Some louver blades have been damaged by intense arguments.

Outside the collation center, a sizable contingent of NDC supporters has gathered and is calling for the results to be announced right away.

Military forces have been sent in to support the police presence and keep the area peaceful in order to preserve order.
