In order to maintain the public’s confidence in the outcome, the Electoral Commission (EC) has reiterated its dedication to carrying out an error-free and transparent electoral process.
In an effort to improve election accuracy and legitimacy, the EC has hired more than 200 professionals with backgrounds in statistics, mathematics, and other quantitative domains to bolster its operations.
In an interview with the media on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, EC Deputy Chairperson Dr. Eric Bossman Asare stated that these new hires will be crucial to making sure the election process is seamless and free of errors.
“The Commission has already recruited over 280,000 individuals who are going to work on this election. We have also recruited people who are going to help with the collation. These are people who have a background in mathematics, actuarial science, and statistics and will be assisting with quantitative methods. So they are going to assist the returning officers at the constituency level,” Dr. Asare stated.
The data specialists will assist with crucial duties such data collection, tabulation of votes, and statistical analysis—important procedures that have a direct bearing on the legitimacy of the election results.
Dr. Asare emphasized how important it is for the EC to concentrate on these areas in order to preserve public trust in the election results.
“The public’s trust in the outcomes depends on the Commission’s preparations being accurate and transparent,” Dr. Asare stated.
